Why Israel Matters – There are many in Washington who are doing their best to quietly move America away from its traditional role as a defender and ally of Israel. With anti-Semitism at its highest level since World War II, Mathew Staver (Liberty Counsel and Christians in Defense of Israel) is committed to showing Israel’s amazing positive impact to the world via this 13-part documentary series. Adult Education Class - Shabbat mornings, 8-9:30 a.m. for the next several weeks, watching and then discussing the First Fruits of Zion produced television show entitled “A Promise of What Is to Come”. Each episode takes key concepts within the gospel message and connects them to the Kingdom of G-d from a Messianic Jewish perspective. See Jim Templer.

The viewing is said to be startling. Please leave for the event early in the morning. There is the possibility of a gridlock on the roads, similar to what happened on the Autobahn in Germany some decades ago when people started out too late to view a solar eclipse.

1.  Or HaOlam is organizing a solar eclipse viewing fellowship day at the Claybrook Park Shelter, 21211 Jesse James Farm Rd, Kearney, MO 64060 (close to Jesse James Farm Museum). There are 9 picnic tables in a gazebo, 3 grills, water spout, and flush toilet facilities.

2.  This will be a Bring Your Own Picnic food gathering.  Or HaOlam will not be providing any food or drinks.  Please bring enough picnic food/drinks for your family and your guests.  Or HaOlam will provide dinner-size paper plates, cups, napkins and plastic ware.

3.  Indicate on the signup sheet in the lobby at the shul if you are interested in coming.  Bring your own volleyball set, softball, badminton set or frisbees.


Evan Levine, the director of HaTikva Project (The Hope Project), which exists to serve the needs of the poor, oppressed and needy Jewish believers in Israel, will be our guest Shabbat speaker on Aug 26. Evan is a Kansas City native, and a former Or HaOlamnik.
