The philosophical foundation for education at Or HaOlam is firmly set on scripture. There are numerous injunctions in Scripture which command us to teach Torah. None is more imperative than the commission given to followers of Yeshua HaMashiakh upon His exit from the earth to sit down at The Father’s right hand.

"Therefore, go and make people from all nations into talmidim, immersing them into the reality of the Father, the Son and the Ruach HaKodesh, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember! I will be with you always, yes, even until the end of the age."
Matthew 28:19-20

These words, which I am ordering you today, are to be on your heart; and you are to teach them carefully to your children. You are to talk about them when you sit at home, when you are traveling on the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7

But you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, recalling the people from whom you learned it; and recalling too how from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which can give you the wisdom that leads to deliverance through trusting in Yeshua the Messiah.
2 Timothy 3:14-15

Children

Besorah Babies (Ages 0-3)

Nursery care begins after worship. Please come back to the children’s wing to sign in your child before returning back to the sanctuary. Nursery workers devote their time to care for the children (ages 0-2) so that parents can enjoy the service.

Torah Tykes (Ages 4-7)

Classes for pre-school age children are held during the service back in the children’s wing of the building. A message will appear on the big screen in the sanctuary shortly after worship that will tell you when to dismiss your child for class. Children will be taught a Bible lesson along with a craft or activity.

Kosher Kids (Ages 8-13)

This class meets during the message and follows a curriculum for children in a Messianic Jewish family life in Messiah. We will be learning Gospel insights along with Torah learning. We also offer Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparation and basic beginner Hebrew.

Youth

Youth class (Ages 13-18)

In order to transition our children from childhood to adulthood, we focus on activities which promote them from being a receiver to a giver within the kehilat. We provide the basics for reading Hebrew, reciting the blessings upon reading Torah/Haftorah/Brit Khadasha, preparing their first drash, and how to dress the Torah. L'dor v'dor is a Hebrew phrase that means "from generation to generation". It's a concept in Judaic scripture that emphasizes the responsibility to pass on traditions, values, and knowledge to future generations.

Lo Kashish Young Adults לא קשיש (Ages 19-30)

The primary purpose of Lo Kashish is to provide community for young adults. We get together monthly, and we focus on building relationships. Those relationships lead to a desire to learn more and dig deeper as we walk through life together.

One of our big happenings is our Havdalah Dance Parties. The dance parties feature live or prerecorded music and lots of dancing, fellowship, and food. These usually take place each month on the 3rd Saturday evening after Shabbat. Lo Kashish host these parties, but everyone is welcome. Click here for more information.

The Vision of Or HaOlam:

Working to bring Jewish people, and those grafted in, to their covenantal identity in Messiah.  Implies: 1.) Salvation through the Atonement of the Messiah; personal faith in the atoning death and resurrection of Yeshua; it's all about the King  2.) Covenantal identity of Jewish people, not replacement  3.) Restoration to Torah lifestyle  4.) Restoration/survival of the nation of Israel. (Covenantal identity, so Jewish believers don't assimilate.  Romans 11:15 "For if their casting Yeshua aside means reconciliation for the world, what will their accepting him mean?  It will be life from the dead!)
